Literature Inspired Art

Students of Haworth Public School not only enjoy reading, but are quite artistic as well. If you would like to share your artwork which was inspired by a book that you have read, bring it to the library so that Mrs. Kahn can scan it.

Mo Willems was the inspiration for the next four pictures drawn by 3rd graders in 2008 after listening to Pigeon Wants a Puppy.
Catherine F. Grade 3
Saxton Freymann's How Are You Peeling? was the inspiration for this collaboration by Becca, Olivia and Christina (Grade 4).
Becca, Olivia and Christina were inspired by Eric Kimmel's Cactus Soup and collaborated on this colorful picture.

David Shannon's David is an inspiration for Lauren F.

Knufflebunny by Mo Willems inspired Lauren to draw Trixie and Knufflebunny.

Thanks to Leah P. for sharing her drawing of Amelia Bedelia. Great job, Leah!

Judy Moody, M.D. The Doctor is In by Megan McDonald was the inspiration for this portrait of Judy drawn by Christina.

Young Joon enjoyed reading Cornelia Funke's book, Dragon Rider when he was a third-grader.

Duck for President, by Doreen Cronin was the inspiration for Brian's art.

Fans of Lemony Snicket's "Series of Unfortunate Events" will appreciate Jillian W's vision of Violet from The Wide Window.

Third-grader Brian H. was inspired by Mo Willems' Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Rosemary Wells' "Max" books are favorites around the school library so Mrs. Kahn brought her Max's old Max bunny to decorate the library since he doesn't need it any more. Gian recently used the doll as a model for a picture. Wonderful work, Gian. Thanks for letting me scan it.

Judy Moody is quite a character and the series is very popular. Nina has captured Judy very well in her illustration above.

The American Girl series has enjoyed renewed popularity recently among third and fourth graders. Thanks Nina for sharing this drawing with us.

Johnny O. portrayed two characters from Wendelen Van Draanen's very popular Shredderman series, bully, Bubba Bixby and teacher, Mr. Green.

Keefe W.'s rendering of the cover of the British edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This is an amazing interpretation of the cover. The red object below is the Hogwart's Express. Come to the library to see the original cover. Great job, Keefe!
